Ambassador of the Czech Republic Radek Matula visited UzhNU
On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka, the Rector of UzhNU held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine, Radek Matula, who was paying a working visit to Transcarpathia on that day. They had a business conversation in a friendly atmosphere and discussed the issues of the condition and prospects of the educational and scientific cooperation of UzhNU with higher educational and scientific institutions of the Czech Republic.
The Rector of UzhNU told the Czech Ambassador about the implementation of joint projects and the multi-faceted cooperation of Uzhhorod National University with the Czech universities, including Charles University in Prague, College of Polytechnics in Jihlava, Brno University of Technology, University of Pardubice, Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, Palacky University in Olomouc, Tomas Bata University in Zlin and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. For over five years, Uzhhorod National University has been closely cooperating with the Vysocina region of the Czech Republic. In this period, several bilateral projects were implemented, in particular at the Faculty of Philology (renovation, window replacement, purchase of furniture, books, language practice). There are lecturers from the Czech language working at UzhNU on a permanent basis. It became possible to invite them due to the support of the representatives of the Vysocina region and the Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv Pavel Peshek. Volodymyr Smolanka said that the presence of a Czech lecturer - a native speaker Petra Zlamana - was very important for the development of the Czech department of UzhNU and the training of skilled specialists.
Volodymyr Smolanka thanked the Ambassador for the support and expressed confidence that the cooperation between the universities of Ukraine and the Czech Republic would be the basis for further rapprochement of our countries and peoples and invited Radek Mathula to visit UzhNU again.
