Scientific Educational Center of Social and Political Studies

The development of research and innovation in education and its quality improvement on the basis of innovation is a strategic direction of state policy in the field of education. It is stated in the National Strategy for the Development of Education in Ukraine for the period up to 2021, approved by the Decree of the President of Ukraine on June 21, 2013. The establishment of research universities, expansion of the autonomy of higher education institutions is stated in the document as an important task that must be resolved for a new breakthrough in the national education system.

The need to promote scientific research and the development that are competitive on the global market of scientific applied results, the implementation of innovative activity and also the support of the profound training scientific training of the specialists on this basis, the prospect of acquiring the status of the Research University brought to the creation in Uzhhorod National University by the decision of the Academic Council on April 2, 2013 Research and Training Centre of Public and Political Research (RTC).

The main task of RTC is to join the efforts, to manage research and training institutions in order to fulfill competitive scientific development on actual problems of public and political development and European integration of Ukraine that corresponds to modern demands.

RTC has created 7 Research and 2 Training Institutions of the University.

The aim of the creation of RTC, as mentioned in Memorandum is:
  • collaboration of its members for the effective use of available educational, scientific and educational potential and material and technical resources;
  • carrying out joint basic and applied research, including interdisciplinary research, which corresponds to international standards;
  • organization of joint communication activities and International Participation as well;
  • organization of creative writing team for the preparation of textbooks and other educational materials for humanities majors;
  • coordination of scheduled equipment of material resources of the RTC members with modern equipment, computers etc.
  • joint publishing, etc.

At a general meeting of the heads of UzhNU institutions, centers, studios that make the RTC, the enactment of the ScientificCenter of social and political studies was adopted and the representatives for its head identified.

Nowadays 54 employees work at the formed divisions of RTC. The number of full-time academic, technical and support staff makes 20 employees. Research and training institutions, that are parts of the RTC, own a good financial base located at relevant university faculties. Apart from these basic premises is used by the RTC in the city center of Uzhgorod (sq. Koryatovicha, 5) with ultra-modern technical equipment and information equipment, which enables you to work on-line.

The Collective advisory body of the RTC in accordance with its Regulations is scientific council, chaired by the Director.

At the first meeting of the Scientific Council the issues on the participation of the Research Institute and RTC of the University in the drafting of basic and applied research and other important issues were heard. It is significant that despite the fact that members of the RTC retain autonomy and financial independence, its membership is not an obstacle to adopting agreements with other organizations, institutions, etc., members of the Scientific Council of the RTC are in search of forms of cooperation that would unite and help communication. Besides, it is proposed to establish a webpage of RTC of social and political research where the information about scientific exploration of each institutions as well as its own publication - Research Bulletin, bulletin digest, etc. will be posted.
