Scientific-Research Institute of Phytotherapy
The Research Institute of Phytotherapy of Uzhhorod National University was established in 1992. The initiator and director of the institute from 1992 to 2020 was Dr. Oleksandr Mykhailovych GANYCH, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor. Since July 2020, the acting director of the Research Institute of Phytotherapy of Uzhhorod National University is Dr. Taras Mykhailovych GANYCH, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor.
The main directions of activity of the Research Institute of Phytotherapy are as follows:
1. Development of phytopreparations for the prevention and treatment of patients with pathologies of internal organs caused by the influence of low doses of ionizing radiation.
2. Study of the impact of phytopreparations on the immunological, vitamin, hormonal status, and other indicators of body homeostasis.
3. Development and production of new phytopreparations with a high healing effect on human homeostasis.
4. Production of environmentally friendly raw materials of medicinal plants and implementation of new cultivation technologies, as well as the release of developed formulations of phytopreparations and phytoproducts.
5. Development of new instrumental methods for the diagnosis of pre-tumor conditions.
The Research Institute of Phytotherapy has conducted research on the following:
1. The impact on the immune system of over 100 environmentally friendly medicinal plants from the flora of Zakarpattia.
2. Detailed dynamic characterization of T- and B-cell immunity and sensitization of the body among adult and pediatric populations exposed to chronic radiation due to the Chernobyl disaster at various time intervals.
3. Study of the vitamin status of individuals exposed to low doses of radiation.
4. Development of optimal compositions of plant components (phyto teas such as "Karpaty," "Kratefit," "Phytohrust," "Phytodrage," "Phytosorb," "Ehinofit," and others) designed for targeted impact on the body of patients with specific gastroenterological pathologies through targeted phytotherapy.
5. Development of programs for natural health improvement of adults and children in conditions of multifactorial exoecological adversity and iodine deficiency.
