Participation of the Faculty of Tourism and International Communications in EastConference on cross-border cooperation "Ukraine-Slovakia Friendship"
A conference on cross-border cooperation, organized within the framework of Slovak-Ukrainian cooperation by the organization "Friendship Slovakia - Ukraine", funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, was held in “Ilko” art gallery last week. A new regional policy of the state concerning the Carpathian region and Transcarpathia, necessitates the search for new forms of cross-border cooperation in order to enhance cooperation to achieve a single integrated space. New approaches to cross-border cooperation in economy and tourism are successfully operating owing to "European groups of territorial cooperation", "cross-border partnership", "cross-border clusters" and "cross-border innovation projects", etc.
The conference hosted Ukrainian and Slovak government officials, academics and students, including Consul General of Slovakia in Uzhhorod Janka Burianova, the Mayor of Uzhhorod Bohdan Andriyiv, Ph.D., the Head of the Department for Strategic Development of the State Administration of the Slovak Republic Martina Szabova, scholars of UzhNU, including the Dean and Vice-dean of the Faculty of Tourism and International Communication associate professors Natalia Habchak and Ruslana Zhovtani, the Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, Professor Mykola Palinchak, and students.
The extensive conference programme ended with the opening of the monument to the founder of Slovak statehood General, astronomer and politician Milan Rastislav Shtefanik.
