Managers of UzhNU visited «Jabil»
The Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka and Vice-Rector for Academic Policy and Research Oleksandr Rohach visited the factory of «Jabil» corporation in Uzhhorod. The enterprise has been closely cooperating with UzhNU for many years by implementing joint projects, employing the university’s graduates and helping UzhNU to develop its tech base. «Jabil» corporation is the third manufacturer of electronics in the world with annual turnover of 18 billion USD. The corporation employs more than 180 thousand people worldwide. It has been operating in Transcarpathia for more than 10 years.
During the meeting, the issues of further mutually benefitial cooperation between the university and «Jabil» company were discussed. The Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka said: "We appreciate the cooperation with such a successful company as «Jabil». A lot of our alumni have been employed by the enterprise. It is important that they are satisfied with the salaries and the conditions created for them by the employer. In view of this, we intend to expand our partnership, because it is important for us to be able to offer well-paid jobs to our graduates in their native country. We discussed a long-range collaboration plan between UzhNU and “Jabil”, which in particular includes a new for our country dual education program. According to it, students can combine the study at our university with the job at the enterprise related to their major. Thus, the enterprise interested in high level professionals can be involved in the training of young specialists. "
Business environment is developing rapidly and the university should keep pace with its development by training the specialists, highly competitive at the market. "Our task is not only to provide high quality education, but also help students find good jobs. «Jabil» provides such opportunities, it is ready to cooperate with the university. The company provides good opportunities for professional growth and salaries that are higher than the average in Ukraine,"- said Oleksandr Rohach.
Despite the presence of such modern and advanced companies as «Jabil» in Transcarpathia, applicants are not very much interested in technical professions. Therefore, an important objective of such cooperation is to demonstrate the prospects and opportunities of technical and natural sciences to university applicants. "We are moving with the times – recently a new major "Telecommunications and redio engineering was opened at the Faculty of Physics. To help you understand, the labor market in this field is really wide: «Jabil», for example, collaborates with lots of leading telecom companies in the world,"- says Oleksandr Rohach.
This year it’s the third time that «Jabil» offers paid internships for a period of 6-12 months. The company will provide free training (professional and personal training sessions, including free courses of English). Students of the 5-6th years of study with analytical thinking, understanding algorythmics and drawings (Autocad), with excellent knowledge of MS Office and intermediate and higher level of English are invited to apply.
