Biologists of UzhNU adopted experience of urban park revitalization from their partners in Humenne
The other day, while preparing a joint Slovak-Ukrainian grant project "Revitalization of city parks as natural and historical heritage of Uzhhorod and Humenne" implemented as part of the cross-border cooperation programme "Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine", the dean of the Faculty of Biology Yaroslava Hasynets and associate professor Inna Besehanych visited the town of Humenne.
Participants of the meeting studied the project documentation on the first stage of revitalization of the park in Humenne, and also saw the results of the works. Slovak partners are doing their best to preserve the overall concept of the park. Mostly local species of trees are planted here, including various species of maple, oak, ash, hornbeam, linden, spruce and pine.
However, there are some exotic species like sycamore, honey locust, tulip tree and others. Old and dry trees are gradually replaced by young ones of similar species. The area in front of the castle park is planted with yew and boxtree.
Slovak and Ukrainian partners agreed to meet in Uzhhorod in a week. We hope that the project will also be successfully implemented in our city.
